So while this is our first year of setting a clear and actionable Environmental, Social & Governance strategy, we’re approaching it in exactly the same way. Not just our impact on a global scale that can sometimes be hard to relate to or act upon. But the difference we can make with the people we see, the places we know, the neighbourhoods where we live.

How we developed our ESG strategy

We’re concentrating our efforts on the most important challenges we’ve identified as part of our materiality analysis across our culture, our neighbourhoods and our planet, where we believe we can make the most difference.

In order to best serve a global agenda, we start by thinking
local and acting local. And we’re already being recognised for
our efforts. In October 2020 we were awarded the CFI.co ‘Best ESG Multi Utility Provider UK 2020’.

One Culture

We want to build a strong UW culture - One Culture - where people find great opportunities, are treated as individuals and their contributions are valued.

One Neighbourhood

We want the neighbourhoods where we operate to thrive - One Neighbourhood - and will focus on the best interests of the people, businesses and customers we serve and work with.

One Planet

We recognise we’re part of something much bigger than ourselves, so we also want to safeguard our planet - One Planet - for future generations.
